A curry is a dish of South Asian and Southeast Asian cuisine. The base for the curry forms a creamy sauce with different spices such as turmeric, cumin, coriander, chili, garlic or ginger.

In today’s post, I’ll show you a quick & easy curry recipe with chicken and chickpeas. I wish you lots of fun cooking 😉

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 2 chicken breast fillets
  • 1 can chickpeas
  • 1 can coconut milk
  • 2 red onions
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 small pieces ginger
  • A teaspoon each of ground coriander & curry powder
  • ¼ teaspoon chili flakes
  • Salt & pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • Some fresh cilantro for garnishing

Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:

  • Large frying pan or wok
  • Spatula
  • Colander to drain chickpeas

Peel onions and cut into thin strips. Peel garlic & ginger & chop finely. Rinse chicken breast fillets under running water, pat dry with kitchen paper and then cut into bite-sized pieces. Drain chickpeas over a pasta strainer, rinse thoroughly and allow to drain completely.

Heat up a large pan or wok adding a good dash of oil, then give onions, garlic, ginger, ¼ teaspoon chilli flakes and 1 teaspoon of ground coriander as well as curry powder to the pan and sweat everything for about 2 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Next add chicken & chickpeas to the pan & sauté for another 2 – 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Finally deglaze everything with 1 can of coconut milk, bring the curry to a boil and allow to simmer for about 10 minutes over medium heat until the chicken is done.




Season the done chicken curry with salt & pepper to taste, then pull the pan from heat & dish up the curry along with for example rice or bread. Finally garnish everything with finely chopped cilantro & enjoy your meal. I wish you lots of fun cooking 😉
