Homemade Giant Kinder Délice

Kinder Délice is a cake bar & consists of 2 layers of sponge cake, a layer of milk cream in the middle, a chocolatey cocoa cream on top & everything covered with milk chocolate.

In today’s post, I’ll show you how to bake a giant Kinder Délice at home. Have fun baking!

Homemade Giant Kinder Délice

Ingredients for 1 Homemade Giant Kinder Délice:

…for sponge cake:

  • 4 eggs
  • 125 grams sugar
  • 100 grams flour
  • 25 milliliters milk
  • 1 heaping tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 heaping tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 sachet vanilla sugar
  • 1 heaping teaspoon baking powder

…for milk cream:

  • 250 grams mascarpone cheese
  • 150 milliliters cream
  • 50 grams powdered sugar
  • 1 sachet cream stabilizer
  • 1 sachet vanilla sugar

…more ingredients:

  • 300 grams dark chocolate
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 50 grams dark chocolate
  • 50 milliliters water
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:

  • Mixing bowl for sponge batter
  • Blender
  • Whisk
  • Sieve
  • Baking sheet + baking paper
  • Baking frame (dimensions approx. 30cm x 30cm)
  • Clean kitchen towel
  • Spatula + dough card
  • Mixing bowl for milk cream
  • Small pot or saucepan for sugar syrup
  • Cooling rack
  • Small bowl for melted chocolate
  • Large pot + suitable bowl for the double boiler or microwave to melt chocolate

Instructions for the Homemade Giant Kinder Délice:




…for sponge cake:

Preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat) in good time. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a baking frame (dimensions 30cm x 30cm) on it. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 eggs, 125 grams sugar, 25 milliliters milk & 1 sachet vanilla sugar & mix together until fluffy with a blender or a kitchen machine for 3 – 4 minutes.

Next get a sieve & sift 100 grams flour, 1 heaping teaspoon baking powder & a heaping tablespoon each of cornstarch & cocoa powder to the egg mixture. Use a whisk or spatula to gently fold in flour, cocoa powder & baking powder & then pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.




Put the sponge cake into the preheated oven for about 15 – 20 minutes, then remove it from the oven & allow to cool slightly. Remove the baking frame, for that drive along the edges with a blunt knife & then carefully overthrow sponge cake onto a clean kitchen towel. Peel off the baking paper & cut the sponge cake sheet into 2 equal sized pieces with a knife.

…for milk cream:

In a large mixing bowl combine 250 grams mascarpone cheese, 150 milliliters cream, 50 grams powdered sugar & a sachet each of vanilla sugar & cream stabilizer & mix together until stiff for about 1 minute.

Spread the milk cream onto one of the two sponge cake plates as smooth as possible and then gently press the second sponge plate onto the cream & straighten the excess cream on the edges with a dough card or knife.

…for cocoa cream:




Put 150 grams sugar & 50 milliliters water into a saucepan & heat up over medium heat, while stirring constantly with a whisk. Bring to a boil, allow to simmer briefly & then remove from heat.

Next add 1 tablespoon cocoa powder & 50 grams dark chocolate to the hot sugar syrup & stir in until the chocolate is completely melted. Immediately pour the cocoa cream onto the Kinder Délice & spread evenly on the surface.

…for the chocolate coating:

Melt 300 grams of milk chocolate over a water bath or in the microwave & then stir together with 3 tablespoons canola oil until the chocolate is beautifully fluid. Line the countertop with parchment paper, place a cooling rack on it & finally place the Kinder Délice carefully onto the rack.

Then pour the whole bar with the melted chocolate until the bar is completely covered. Allow the Kinder Délice cake bar to harden completely and then serve. I wish you lots of fun baking 😉
