Stuffed peppers are a traditional dish of Austrian or Hungarian cuisine, the peppers are deseeded and then stuffed with fillings of your choice (for example ground beef, rice, couscous or bulgur).
In today’s post, I’ll show you a variant stuffed with an oriental spiced minced meat & feta cheese. I wish you lots of fun cooking 😉
Cooked/Baked today: Stuffed Peppers with Ground Beef & Feta Cheese

Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 4 bell peppers
- 500 grams ground beef
- 150 grams feta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 large handful of fresh parsley
- 5 – 6 mint leaves
- A teaspoon each of cumin, ground coriander, sumac & turmeric
- 1 heaping tablespoon ajvar
- 1 can chopped tomatoes
- 1 onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- Salt, pepper & sugar
- Oil for frying
Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:
- Mixing bowl for the ground beef mixture
- Pan for the tomato sauce
- Baking dish
Instructions:
…preparations for the bell peppers:
Finely chop parsley & mint leaves. Put ground beef together with parsley, mint, 1 egg, 150 grams of crumbled feta cheese, 1 heaping tablespoon of ajvar, 1 teaspoon each of cumin, ground coriander, sumac & turmeric and good a pinch of salt & pepper in a mixing bowl & mix well with your hands.
Cut the peppers in half and then deseed them, but do not remove the stalk. Fill the halved peppers with the beef mixture and then set aside.
…for the tomato sauce:
Peel off an onion & a clove of garlic & finely chop. Heat up a pan adding a dash of oil, add onions & garlic to the pan and sweat over medium heat for 2 – 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Next, pour in a can chopped tomatoes & season everything with salt, pepper & sugar to taste. Stir in chopped tomatoes & allow to simmer slightly for about 1 minute, then remove the tomato sauce from heat.
…for the stuffed peppers:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat) in time. Spread the tomato sauce on the bottom of a casserole dish, then place the stuffed peppers side by side in the baking dish & bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
Get the done peppers out of the oven & serve along with a portion of cooked rice. I wish you lots of fun cooking 😉
