I cook today: Fried Vegetables with Sweet & Sour Sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:
- Vegetables of your choice (for example 2 bell peppers, 1 zucchini & 1 head broccoli)
- 200 grams of flour
- 250 milliliters of milk
- 150 grams of breadcrumbs
- ½ sachet of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- About 1 liter of oil for deep-frying
- Sweet & Sour Sauce (purchased or homemade)
Kitchen Helper/Gadgets:
- Mixing bowl
- Mixer
- Pot or wok for deep-frying
- Kitchen paper
- Ladle
Instructions:
Deseed peppers & cut into bite size pieces. Cut zucchini into 1 centimeter thick slices. Divide broccoli into florets. Add 150 grams of flour, 1 teaspoon salt and ½ sachet of baking powder into a mixing bowl and mix briefly with a spoon.
Dip the vegetables in several stages into the flour mixture, tap off the excess flour on the edge of the bowl and then collect the floured vegetables on a plate. Prepare a plate with about 150 grams of breadcrumbs.
…for the batter:
Give additional 50 grams of flour to the rest of flour mixture. In addition add 1 egg and 250 milliliters of milk. Whisk up everything with a mixer until you got a smooth batter.
…for breaded vegetables::
Dip the floured vegetables in several stages first into the batter to coat, allow to drain until the batter stops dripping & then turn in breadcrumbs.
…for the fried vegetables:
Heat up a pan or wok adding about 1 liter of oil for deep-frying. Once the oil is hot enough carefully give the breaded vegetables (in several stages) into the oil and deep-fry them for about 3 – 4 minutes until golden brown. Then lift out the vegetables using a ladle and allow to drain on paper towels.
Then serve the fried vegetables along with sweet and sour sauce. Bon Appetite!
