Instructions for the Homemade Giant Oreo Cookie:
…for the shortcrust pastry:
Put all ingredients for the cookie dough in a mixing bowl and knead with your hands for about 4 – 5 minutes until smooth. Then halve the dough, wrap both parts into cling film and put in the fridge for about 1 hour.
After about 1 hour, get the dough out of the fridge, wrap each half of the dough in succession between 2 sheets of baking paper and roll out about 1 centimeter thick with a rolling pin. Cut out the dough with the help of a cake ring (20cm diameter) circularly and remove the excess dough for the decorations and put aside.
…for the decorations:
First scrape small notches with a knife at the edge each cookie circle at a distance of about ½ centimeter. Then knead the excess dough together for the further decorations & roll out between 2 sheets of baking paper about ½ centimeter thick.
Cut out the following elements for decoration (for a more detailed approach, have a look into the video at the bottom):
- 10 pieces á 3cm x 0,5cm
- 10 pieces á 1,5cm x 0,5cm
- 1 piece á 6cm x 0,5cm
- 1 piece á 25cm x 0,5cm
- The letters O R E & O
- 5 squares, each 2cm x 2cm (diagonally halved to times each)
Place the decorations on one of the two cookie circles as shown in the picture below. Then bake the cookies one after another in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for about 25 minutes get the done cookies out of the oven and allow to cool completely.
…for the cream filling:
Melt 100 grams of white chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave & set aside. Next, add 200 grams of soft butter, 100 grams of powdered sugar & 25 milliliters of vanilla syrup to a mixing bowl and mix with a blender for about 1 – 2 minutes until white and creamy.
When done, add the melted chocolate & mix for another 1 – 2 minutes. Then spread the cream on the lower cookie (without decorations) and gently press the upper cookie onto the filling.
Allow the finished Oreo Cookie to set completely for about 1 – 2 hours in the fridge and then serve. I wish you lots of fun baking 😉
