A pizza usually consists of a simple yeast dough topped with tomato sauce & other toppings of your choice.
In today’s post, I’ll show you a simple recipe for delicious pizza boats with salami. For that the dough will not rolled out round but elongated & oval, then before baking the edges will be folded inwards. I wish you lots of fun cooking 😉

…for the dough:
- 500 grams flour
- 300 milliliters water
- ½ cube fresh yeast (about 20 grams)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Additional flour for the countertop
…for the topping:
- 200 grams grated cheese (for example Gouda)
- 200 milliliters sieved tomatoes
- 3 – 4 mini salamis
- 1 teaspoon Italian Herb mixture
- Salt & pepper
Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:
- High container for the yeast-water mixture
- Mixing bowl
- Mixer/Kitchen machine
- Kitchen towel
- Rolling pin
- Baking sheet + parchment paper
- Water glass + shot glass to cut out bagels
- Small bowl for tomato sauce
- Brush
Instructions:
…for the dough:
Crumble ½ cube of fresh yeast into a tall container, add 1 teaspoon sugar & 300 milliliters of lukewarm water, then mix together everything using a whisk or fork until yeast and sugar have completely dissolved.
Then put the yeast-water mixture together with 500 grams of flour & 1 teaspoon of salt in a mixing bowl & knead with your hands or a food processor for about 4 – 5 minutes to form a smooth dough that should completely detach from the bowl wall.
…for pizza bagels:
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured work surface with a rolling pin to about 1 centimeter thick, then cut out bagels with a water glass and a small shot glass & place the bagels next to each other on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
Knead the excess dough together again, roll out & cut out further bagels as described above until the dough is completely used up. Cover the bagels with a kitchen towel & allow to rest for 45 minutes in a warm place until the bagels have increased significantly in volume.
Meanwhile, for the tomato sauce, put 200 milliliters of sieved tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of Italian herb mixture and a good pinch of salt & pepper in a bowl & stir until well combined. Cut the mini salamis into thin slices with a knife.
Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). After the resting time, brush the bagels with a little tomato sauce, then sprinkle with grated cheese & top with salami slices.
Bake the pizza bagels in the preheated oven for approx. 15 – 18 minutes until golden brown and crispy, then take them out of the oven and serve immediately. Have fun baking!
