Rosemary & thyme give the potato dish the special seasoning, alternatively the spices can also be replaced at your own taste. Have fun cooking!

Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kilogram waxy potatoes
- 500 grams broccoli
- 300 milliliters milk
- 200 milliliters cream
- 100 grams smoked bacon
- 150 grams grated cheese
- A tablespoon each of butter & flour
- A teaspoon rosemary & thyme
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt & pepper
- Possibly rosemary for garnishing
Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:
- Saucepan or small pot
- Suitable baking dish
Peel potatoes and then cut or slice them very thin using a knife or slicer. Divide broccoli into fine florets or roughly cut into slices. Cut bacon into fine cubes. Preheat oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat) in good time.
Put a tablespoon butter in a saucepan & allow melt over low to medium heat. Once the butter is completely melted & starts to foam add a tablespoon of flour & stir together with a whisk & allow to sweat briefly. Next, pour in 300 milliliters cold milk and mix well until there are no flour lumps left.
Then pour in 200 milliliters cream, also season with a teaspoon each of rosemary & thyme, ½ teaspoon nutmeg & a good pinch of salt & pepper. Bring the sauce to a boil over low to medium heat stirring constantly, simmer for about 1 minute while stirring and then remove from heat.
…for potato broccoli bake:
Transfer potatoes & broccoli to a suitable baking dish & mix a bit. Next spread the bacon cubes on top of the potato slices, pour the hot cream sauce over the potatoes & finally sprinkle everything with 150 grams grated cheese. Put the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 50 – 60 minutes until the potatoes are cooked.
Get the done potato bake out of the oven, dish up on plates and serve garnished with some chopped rosemary. I wish you lots of fun cooking 😉
