Simple One Pot Lasagna

A lasagna is a layered casserole dish of Italian cuisine and consists of pasta sheets, ground meat & béchamel sauce and finally topped & gratinated with cheese.

In today’s post, I’ll show you a variant without layering, the lasagna is cooked on the stove in one pan and is just sent for gratinating in the oven. Have fun cooking!

Ingredients for 4 – 6 servings:

…for meat sauce:

  • 750 grams ground meat (half pork & half beef)
  • 500 milliliters sieved tomatoes
  • 250 milliliters vegetable or beef stock
  • 1 bunch or 500 grams of soup vegetables (carrots, celery and leeks)
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 – 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 heaping tablespoon tomato paste
  • A teaspoon each of basil, thyme, rosemary, majoram & oregano
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt & pepper

…more ingredients:

  • 200 grams lasagna sheets
  • 200 grams creme fraiche
  • 100 grams grated Parmesan cheese
  • Parsley for garnish

Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:

  • Large pan with lid
  • Grater for the Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

Peel off onion & garlic & chop finely. Peel carrots & celery from the soup vegetables & cut into fine cubes. Clean the leeks, quarter lengthwise & chop finely. Also finely chop the parsley and set aside for garnish. Next, heat up a large pan with a good dash of oil & sweat the vegetables over medium heat for 4 – 5 minutes until glassy, stirring occasionally.

Then add the ground meat to the pan & brown for another 4 – 5 minutes until crumbly while turning occasionally turning & possibly increasing the heat. Season with 1 teaspoon each of rosemary, thyme, oregano, basil and marjoram as well as a good pinch of salt and pepper to taste.



When done, add 1 heaping tablespoon of tomato paste, stir in & allow to roast briefly, then deglaze everything with 500 milliliters of sieved tomatoes & 250 milliliters of vegetable or beef stock.

Give meat sauce a good stir, bring to a simmer and then break the lasagna sheets into small pieces and add to the sauce as well. Briefly stir in the pasta sheets so that all the noodles are covered with sauce & then simmer gently over low heat and with the lid closed for 15 – 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.



…for One Pot Lasagna:

Preheat the oven to 200°C (grill function or top/bottom heat) in good time. Finally, add 200 grams of crème fraîche by tablespoons to the pan & stir into the sauce until well combined, then top everything with 100 grams of grated Parmesan cheese and place the pan in the preheated oven for 6 – 7 minutes for gratinating.

Get the done lasagna out of the oven, spread on plates & serve garnished with finely chopped parsley. Have fun cooking!

  1. Leckere Sache und es essen ALLE mit, die sonst immer die Nase krausziehen. Allerdings ist das Kräutersammelsurium zuviel des Guten: Basilikum, Oregano und Thymian ust ausreichend. Rosmarin und Majoran sind für sich selber so geschmacksintensiv, dass es eben zuviel wird. Entweder ital. Kräuter (s.o.) oder Majoran oder Rosmarin. So gesehen sind das drei Gerichte, je nach Kräutern 😉 😀
