Homemade Tortilla Wraps

Tortilla Wraps are thin flatbreads and have their origin in the Tex-Mex-Cuisine. The filling can be varied at will, there is generally vegetables, salad, meat and a spicy sauce.

In today’s post I will show you how to make quick and easy Tortilla Wraps at home. Have fun baking!

Homemade Tortilla Wraps

Ingredients for 4 Tortilla Wraps:

  • 500 grams of flour
  • 230 milliliters of lukewarm water
  • 70 milliliters of oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • Flour for the countertop

Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Mixer/Food processor
  • Damp Kitchen towel
  • Rolling pin
  • Large frying pan

Instructions for the Homemade Tortilla Wraps:

Put all the ingredients for the tortilla wraps in a mixing bowl and knead with your hands or a food processor for about 4 – 5 minutes to form a smooth dough. The dough is ready as soon as all the leftovers from the side walls have been worked into the dough.

Put the dough on the worktop and cut in half with a knife & then cut each half of the dough into 4 pieces of approximately the same size & shape into small balls one after the other with circular movements under the palms of the hands.

Then turn each ball of dough one after the other on a floured work surface in the flour and flatten it a little & afterwards roll it out thinly and flat with a rolling pin.

Then pull the dough apart with circular movements under the palms to a thin & flat tortilla wrap. Heat up a large pan without oil or fat and bake the flatbreads one after the other for about 1 minute on one side.

As soon as the dough starts to bubble, turn it over and bake on the other side for about another minute. Stack the done tortilla wraps on top of each other & ideally cover them with a damp kitchen towel, so they can be rolled better later and will not become hard. Then use the wraps as you like. Have fun baking!

  1. Ich liebe dieses Rezept!! Mache das mit Weizenvollkornmehl (und dadurch ca 20% mehr Wasser) und die Wraps sind absolut perfekt! Vielen lieben Dank für das tolle Rezept.
