A McMuffin is a breakfast burger or sandwich of the fast food chain McDonald’s. The most widespread version of the McMuffin consists of an English muffin covered with a slice of processed cheese, crispy bacon & a round fried egg.

In today’s post I show you how to cook a simple & easy McMuffin Bacon & Egg at home. Have fun cooking!

Ingredients for 2 Homemade McMuffins Bacon & Egg:

  • 2 English muffins (store bought or homemade)
  • 2 slices processed cheese
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 eggs
  • Butter
  • Salt & pepper

Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:

  • 2 round cookie cutters or dessert rings (approx. 8cm wide)
  • Large pan with lid
  • Kitchen paper
  • Tongs

Heat up a pan without adding oil or fat & fry the bacon until brown & crispy on both sides, then lift out of the pan & allow to drain on kitchen paper. Half the English muffins centrally with a knife and roast them on the cutting sides in the fat of the bacon pan, then lift them out of the pan and place them aside until they are set up. Also grease the round cutters from the inside with a little butter.

…for the round fried egg:




Clean the pan with some kitchen paper, then heat up again adding a piece of butter. Once the butter has melted, place the round greased cutters into the pan & crack 1 egg into each ring. Pour a small shot of water around and then fry the eggs with the lid closed for about 2 minutes.

After about 2 minutes remove the lid, lift out the rins with tongs (Nach etwa 2 Minuten den Deckel abnehmen, mit einer Grillzange die runden Ausstecher entfernen (by the previous greasing, the cutters should be easily peeled off) & then lift out the round fried eggs.

…for the McMuffins:

Garnish the muffin down side with a slice of processed cheese & the round fried egg. Season with salt & pepper to taste & finally top the McMuffin with 2 slices crispy bacon & the upper muffin half.

  1. An einer Stelle runzelt sich meine Stirn wie frisch gebratener Bacon: Nach dem Baconbraten die Pfanne auswischen und dann wieder mit Butter fetten? Warum nicht einfach das tolle Baconfett verwenden? Ist vielleicht dann nicht so ein klinisch sauberes Ei-Patty, weil Baconröstpartikel drankommen, aber dafür kommt man ohne extra Butter aus und das Ei kriegt lecker Baconflavour! Und etwas Küchenkrepp spart man auch noch #lesswaste 😀
