Ingredients for about 30 Cookies:
- 275 grams flour
- 200 grams cold butter
- 100 grams powdered sugar
- 25 grams cocoa powder
- 1 sachet bourbon vanilla sugar
- A pinch of salt
Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:
- Mixing bowl
- Cling film
- Rolling pin
- Large star shaped cookie cutter (about 10 centimeters)
- Small star shaped cookie cutter (about 4 centimeters)
- Baking tray + parchment paper
Instructions:
…for the shortcrust:
With a knife cut 200 grams cold butter into small pieces & then give butter along with 275 grams flour, 100 grams powdered sugar, 1 sachet bourbon vanilla sugar & a pinch of salt into a mixing bowl. Knead together all ingredients with your hands until well combined & you got a smooth shortcrust, then halve the dough once with a knife.
Set one half aside & give the other half along with 25 grams cocoa powder back to the mixing bowl & knead together until cocoa powder is well incorporated. Afterwards wrap light & dark shortcrust into cling film & allow to rest for at least 2 hours in the fridge.
…for the star shaped Black & White Cookies:
Timely preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat). Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Get the light shortcrust out of the fridge & roll out on a slightly floured countertop using a rolling pin until ½ centimeter thick.
Then cut out star shaped cookies with a large cookie cutter & afterwards use a second smaller star shaped cookie cutter to cut out small stars in the center of the larger ones. Remove the excess dough, knead together, roll out again & cut out more star shaped cookies until the whole dough is used up.
Next, get the dark shortcrust out of the fridge & cut out more star shaped cookies as described before until the dough is use up completely. Then place the larger cookies on a lined baking tray & put the smaller light star cookies into the center of the dark ones & the other way around until all cookies are “puzzled”.
Bake the cookies in a preheated oven for about 12 minutes until slightly brown. Get the done cookies out of the oven, allow to cool a bit & then serve.
I wish you lots of fun baking 😉
