Ingredients for 4 – 6 servings:

  • 1,25 kilograms of potatoes (mainly waxy)
  • 300 grams of frozen mixed vegetables
  • 300 milliliters milk
  • 200 milliliters cream
  • 100 grams grated Parmedsan cheese
  • 100 grams grated Gouda cheese
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 – 2 cloves garlic
  • About ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt & pepper

Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:

  • Large pan or pot
  • Suitable baking dish

Peel the potatoes & cut into thin slices. Peel and finely chop the onion. Also peel off the garlic & chop finely. Next, heat up a large pan with a dash of oil, add onions & garlic to the pan & sweat for 2 – 3 minutes over medium heat until translucent, stirring occasionally.

Next, add the potato slices, 300 milliliters of milk, 200 milliliters of cream & a good pinch of salt & pepper, also season everything with about ½ teaspoon of nutmeg. Bring the pan’s contents to a boil & then simmer for 8 – 10 minutes over low to medium heat, turning occasionally.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat) in good time. Then add 300 grams of frozen mixed vegetables to the potato slices, stir everything well one last time & as soon as the herb butter from the vegetables is completely melted, transfer everything into a suitable baking dish & sprinkle with 100 grams of grated Parmesan and 100 grams of grated Gouda cheese.

Then put the potato vegetable casserole in the preheated oven & bake for about 30 – 35 minutes until the cheese has melted & the potatoes au gratin got a golden brown color. Take the done potato vegetable bake out of the oven & best serve immediately. Have fun cooking!
