In today’s post I will show you a super simple & delicious recipe for salmon potato bake with fresh spinach leaves.
The preparation is super easy & quick, all ingredients are briefly cooked together in the pan & then the oven does the rest & gives the salmon potato bake a delicious cheese crust. Have fun cooking!

Ingredients for 4 – 6 servings:
- 1 kilogram of potatoes (mainly waxy)
- 500 grams of salmon fillet (skinless)
- 200 grams fresh spinach leaves
- 300 milliliters milk
- 200 milliliters cream
- 200 grams grated Gouda cheese
- 1 large onion
- 1 – 2 cloves garlic
- 1 heaping tablespoon ajvar
- Oil for frying
- Salt & pepper

Peel off potatoes & cut into thin slices. Peel the onion & chop finely. Also peel off the garlic & chop finely. Wash the spinach leaves & pat dry or allow to drain. Cut the salmon into bite-sized pieces. Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat) in good time.
Next, heat up a large pan with a dash of oil, add the onions & garlic to the pan & sweat for 2 – 3 minutes over medium heat until translucent. Then add the potato slices, 300 milliliters of milk, 200 milliliters of cream, 1 tablespoon of ajvar & a good pinch of salt & pepper to the pan.
Bring the pan’s contents to a boil & then simmer over low to medium heat for 8 – 10 minutes, turning occasionally. Afterwards add the drained spinach leaves to the pan, stir everything well one last time until the spinach has wilted a bit.
Next, spread the prepared salmon cubes in a suitable baking dish, add the hot potato-spinach mixture & sprinkle everything with 200 grams of grated Gouda cheese (or other grated cheese). Put the salmon potato bake in the preheated oven & bake for about 30 – 35 minutes until the cheese has melted & has turned into a golden brown color.
Take the done salmon potato bake with spinach leaves from the oven, dish up on plates & ideally serve immediately. Have fun cooking!
