Pumpkin season is finally starting for us & hokkaido, butternut & co are available for pickup in the supermarkets & farm shops everywhere 🙂 I couldn’t resist and immediately brought 2 hokkaido pumpkins.
I stuffed a pumpkin the oriental way with minced meat and baked it in the oven, I’ll definitely give you the recipe for that as soon as possible. With the other pumpkin I cooked a minced meat ragout and served it with pasta. For that I’ll show you the recipe on my blog today. I wish you lots of fun cooking & Bon appetite!
Cooked/Baked today: Simple Pumpkin Pasta with Ground Meat

Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 500 grams of ground meat (half beef/half pork)
- About 500 grams hokkaido pumpkin
- 250 grams pasta (e.g. fusilli)
- 200 milliliters cream
- 2 cans chopped tomatoes (400 grams each)
- 1 onion
- 1 – 2 cloves garlic
- A teaspoon each of sweet paprika, spicy paprika & dried oregano
- Salt, pepper & sugar
- Oil for frying
- Parsley for garnish
Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:
- Large pan or pot for sauce
- Large pot for pasta
…for pasta with pumpkin & ground meat:
Cut hokkaido pumpkin into small cubes or pieces. Peel an onion & 1 – 2 cloves of garlic and chop finely. Heat a large pan with a good splash of oil & sweat the onions and garlic over medium heat, turning occasionally, for 2 – 3 minutes until translucent. Then add the minced meat to the pan and fry until crumbly for another 4 – 5 minutes, turning occasionally, over medium to high heat, season with salt and pepper.
Next add the hokkaido pumpkin and fry briefly. Finally, add 2 cans of chopped tomatoes, 200 milliliters of cream & 1 teaspoon each of sweet paprika powder, hot paprika powder and oregano. Stir everything well, bring to the boil and simmer gently over medium heat for about 10 minutes until the pumpkin is cooked, while stirring occasionally.
Währenddessen einen großen Topf mit reichlich Salzwasser zum Kochen bringen & die Pasta darin 7 – 8 Minuten oder nach Packungsanweisung bissfest garen, anschließend über einem Nudelsieb abgießen & direkt zum fertigen Kürbis Hackfleisch Ragout geben. Alles einmal gut umrühren, nochmal kurz miteinander köcheln lassen & mit Salz, Pfeffer & Zucker abschmecken.
Die fertige Pasta mit Kürbis & Hackfleisch auf Tellern verteilen & mit gehackter Petersilie garniert servieren. Viel Spaß beim Nachkochen!
Meanwhile, bring a large pot with plenty of salted water to the boil & cook the pasta (pasta shape of your choice) for 7 – 8 minutes or according to the instructions on the package until al dente, then drain over a pasta colander & add directly to the pumking meat ragout. Stir everything well, simmer briefly again & season with salt, pepper & sugar to taste.
Spread the finished pasta with pumpkin & mince on plates & serve garnished with chopped parsley. Have fun cooking!
