In today’s post I’ll show you a quick and easy recipe for delicious meatballs with a coconut tomato sauce. For this recipe the meatballs are not fried as usually, but simply shaped and cooked in the sauce.
The sauce basically only consists of coconut milk and chopped tomatoes, seasoned with curry and paprika powder, onions, garlic and ginger. Super tasty, I will definitely try it again. Have fun cooking!

Instructions:
…for meatballs with cocnut tomato sauce
Cook the rice in plenty of salted water according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside until ready to serve. For the ground meat mixture, put 500 grams of ground meat together with 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of sambal oelek & a very good pinch of salt and pepper in a mixing bowl and knead together, then set aside.
Peel 1 onion and chop finely. Also peel the garlic and chop finely. Peel and finely chop the ginger. Heat a large pan with a good splash of oil, add the onions, garlic and ginger to the pan and sauté for about 2 – 3 minutes until translucent, turning occasionally. Next, add 1 heaped teaspoon each of curry powder and sweet paprika powder and fry for a few seconds.
Then pour in 1 can of coconut milk & 1 can of chopped tomatoes, stir everything well, season with salt & pepper and bring to the boil. Form 12 small balls out of the meat mixture, either by hand or using an ice cream scoop, for example, and then add the balls directly to the hot sauce.
With the lid closed, allow the meatballs to simmer in the gently cooking sauce over low to medium heat for 12 – 15 minutes, stirring or tossing occasionally. Serve the finished meatballs with cooked rice and garnish with chopped coriander. Have fun cooking!
