…for sweet potato bake with bacon bits:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (convection) or 200°C (top/bottom heat) in good time. For the sauce, put 200 grams of crème fraiche, 200 milliliters of cream and 1 – 2 pressed garlic cloves in a mixing bowl.
Add 1 heaped teaspoon each of sweet and hot paprika powder and season with a good pinch of salt and pepper. Then whisk everything together until all ingredients are evenly distributed & set aside for a moment.
Next, peel the sweet potatoes & cut into evenly thin slices with a knife or slicer. Then place the potato slices loosely and upright next to each other in a suitable casserole dish.
Pour the prepared sauce over the sweet potato slices, then spread the grated cheese and bacon cubes on top & when done put the baking pan in the oven for 50 – 60 minutes until the sweet potatoes are cooked. In between, keep an eye on the oven & if necessary put baking paper or a lid on the casserole so that the bacon doesn’t get too dark.
Take the finished sweet potato bake out of the oven, spread on plates & serve. The sweet potato gratin is best served with a crunchy salad or as a side dish. Have fun cooking & Bon appetit!
