Last week we had pointed cabbage on offer in our supermarket & since I & my family simply love to eat pointed cabbage, I of course grabbed it & brought a nice pointed cabbage home with me.

Today I’ll show you a delicious pasta bake with pointed cabbage, curry & bacon bits, it’s super quick & just incredibly delicious. Have fun cooking & Bon appetit!

Ingredients for 4 – 6 servings:

  • 400 grams uncooked pasta (here small macaroni)
  • 400 milliliters veggie stock
  • 1 medium sized pointed cabbage
  • 200 milliliters cream
  • 200 grams grated cheese
  • 150 grams bacon bits
  • 1 – 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 teaspoons curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • Salt & pepper
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:

  • Large pot for pasta
  • Pasta strainer
  • Large frying pan for bacon & pointed cabbage
  • Tall container for sauce
  • Garlic press
  • Suitable baking pan for pasta bake

Bring a large pot with plenty of salted water to the boil & cook 400 grams of pasta for 6 – 7 minutes or according to the instructions on the package until al dente, then drain in a colander & set aside. For the sauce, peel the garlic and press into a tall container using a garlic press.

Add 2 teaspoons of curry powder and 1 teaspoon of cornstarch, also pour in 400 milliliters of vegetable stock and 200 milliliters of cream & mix well, then set aside until further use. Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat) in good time with the grill function switched on.

Cut the cabbage into strips with a knife. Heat a large pan or saucepan without oil or additional fat, add 150 grams of diced bacon bits to the pan & fry for a few minutes over medium-high heat, stirring or turning occasionally.

Then put the cabbage in the pan, season with a very good pinch of salt & pepper & sauté, turning occasionally, until the cabbage starts to lose water & wilts slightly.

When that’s done, pour the prepared sauce over the pointed cabbage, stir everything together briefly and bring to the boil. Finally stir in the noodles, season everything again with salt & pepper to taste, remove the pan from the heat & pour the noodle pointed cabbage mixture into a suitable casserole dish & distribute evenly in it. Sprinkle 200 grams of grated cheese on top & then place in the preheated oven for a few minutes to gratinate.

Tip: You can also serve the noodles pointed cabbage pan immediately, baking in the oven is not necessary for the ingredients to be done, but is an optional step for more flavor.

Take the finished pasta bake out of the oven, place on plates, garnish with chopped parsley and serve. Have fun cooking & bon appetit!
