In today’s post I show you a recipe for a white pizza with a topping of ham and cherry tomatoes, alternatively, the pizza can of course also be topped with other ingredients of your choice.

Instead of tomato sauce, the white pizza uses ricotta (alternatively creme fraiche or cream cheese). Have fun cooking!

Ingredients for 4 pizzas:

…for pizza dough:

  • 500 grams flour
  • 250 milliliters water
  • 25 milliliters olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon each of salt & sugar
  • ¼ cube fresh yeast (about 10 grams)
  • Flour for work top

…for pizza topping:

  • 200 grams ricotta cheese
  • 200 grams grated mozzarella cheese
  • 200 grams cherry tomatoes
  • 100 grams ham
  • 1 – 2 clove(s) garlic
  • Salt & pepper
  • Olive oil to sprinkle the pizzas
  • Basil for garnish

Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:

  • Tall conatiner for yeast water mixture
  • Whisk
  • Mixing bowl
  • Kitchen machine or mixer
  • Kitchen towel
  • Possibly a pizza stone

Instructions:




…for pizza dough:

Crumble ¼ cubes of yeast into a tall container, add 1 teaspoon of sugar and 250 milliliters of lukewarm water and mix everything with a whisk or a fork until the yeast and sugar have completely dissolved.

Then put the yeast-water mixture along with 500 grams flour, 25 milliliters olive oil & 1 teaspoon of salt to a mixing bowl and knead with your hands or a food processor for about 4 – 5 minutes until a smooth dough.




Divide the dough into 4 equal sized pieces, then form into small balls, rub all around with a little olive oil & allow the dough balls to rest covered with a kitchen towel for about 60 minutes.

Preheat the oven to at least 250°C (top/bottom heat), place a pizza stone in the middle of the oven & heat it for at least 1 hour. Cut ham into strips. Halve or quarter cherry tomatoes according to size.

Put 200 grams of ricottacheese , 200 grams of grated mozzarella, 1 – 2 pressed garlic clove(s) & a pinch of salt & pepper in a bowl & stir together until well combined.

…for white pizza:

After resting time, flatten the dough balls successively on a floured work surface from the inside to the outside & pull apart to a plate-sized pizza. Spread the pizza with 2 – 3 tablespoons of riccotta cheese mixture, then top with ham & tomatoes & drizzle with a little olive oil.




Use a pizza shovel to lift the ready-made pizza onto the preheated pizza stone and bake for about 5 to 6 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Have fun baking!
