Instructions:
…preparations:
Put 500 grams of ground meat together with 50 grams of breadcrumbs, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of mustard, 1 teaspoon of paprika powder & a good pinch of salt & pepper in a mixing bowl & knead with your hands until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
Then shape 8 balls of the same size from the meat dough and set aside. Peel off 1 large onion and cut into strips, also clean 400 grams of mushrooms and cut into slices.
…for meatballs with creamy sauce:
Heat up a large pan with a good dash of oil and fry the meatballs over medium-high heat for 4 – 5 minutes, turning them once. When done lift them out of the pan & set aside until further use.
Next, put onions & mushrooms in the pan & sauté for another 3 – 4 minutes, turning occasionally. Then stir in 1 tablespoon of tomato paste & 1 teaspoon of thyme, allow to roast briefly & then deglaze everything with 200 milliliters of cream and 100 milliliters of vegetable stock.
Finally, put the meatballs back in the pan, bring the sauce to a boil and allow everything to simmer slowly with the lid closed over low heat for 7 – 8 minutes until the meatballs are cooked and the sauce has reached a creamy consistency.
Then season the meatballs with salt & pepper to taste, stir everything well one last time and then serve garnished with some chopped parsley, for example mashed potatoes are suitable as a side dish for that. Have fun cooking!
