Milky Way Crispy Rolls are small, crispy waffle sticks filled with delicious milk cream and coated with milk chocolate.

In today’s post I will show you how to bake a homemade giant version of this delicious Milky Way Crispy Roll candy sticks. Have fun baking!

Homemade Giant Milky Way Crispy Roll

Ingredients for 1 Homemade Giant Milky Way Crispy Roll:

…crispy waffle roll:

  • 2 egg whites (about 70 grams)
  • 50 grams powdered sugar
  • 50 grams melted butter
  • 40 grams flour

…for filling & coating:

  • 250 grams white chocolate
  • 125 grams soft butter
  • 50 grams powdered sugar
  • 25 milliliters milk
  • 25 grams milk powder
  • 150 grams milk chocolate

Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Mixer or kitchen machine
  • Empty roll kitchen paper
  • Kitchen towel
  • Cling film
  • Pastry bag
  • Baking sheet or angular baking pan (about 20cm x 30cm)
  • Baking paper
  • Double boiler or microwave to melt chocolate

Instructions for the Homemade Giant Milky Way Crispy Roll:

Preheat the oven to 180°C (top bottom heat). Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper. Put 2 egg whites, 50 grams of melted butter, 50 grams of powdered sugar & 40 grams of flour in a mixing bowl & stir together with a whisk or mixer for 1 – 2 minutes until you got a smooth batter.

Pour the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spread in an even layer up to the corners of the sheet and then bake in the preheated oven for 12 – 15 minutes until everything has taken on an even golden brown color.




Then take the baking sheet out of the oven, carefully flip the dough sheet onto a clean kitchen towel & then roll it up immediately (still hot) with the help of an empty kitchen roll, then put aside & allow to cool completely.

…for milk cream:

Put 25 milliliters of milk & 25 grams of milk powder in a mixing bowl & stir together briefly until the milk powder has dissolved. Next add 125 grams of soft butter & 50 grams of powdered sugar & stir everything with a mixer or kitchen machine for 2 – 3 minutes until the butter mixture is beautifull white & creamy.

Finally, melt 250 grams of white chocolate in the microwave or over a water bath, pour into the butter mixture & stir in until all the chocolate has been incorporated, then transfer the done milk cream into a piping bag.




…for giant Milky Way Crispy Roll:

Pull the kitchen roll out of the cooled waffle roll and then wrap it in a sheet of cling film, sealing one end of the roll. Give the cream into the waffle roll using a piping bag, close the other end with cling film as well & put the filled waffle roll in the refrigerator for 1 – 2 hours to harden.

After cooling time, melt 150 grams of whole milk chocolate over a water bath or in the microwave. Place a baking paper on the worktop, place 2 equal sized cups in the middle of it & carefully put the Milky Way Crispy Roll on the cups. Then pour the melted chocolate over the whole bar until the roll is completely covered with chocolate.

Use a blow dryer to create the typical wave pattern on the surface of the chocolate bar & “blow dry” from front to back until stripes or waves form on the surface, then allow to harden completely and serve. Have fun baking!

  1. tolles Rezept, vielen Dank. Ich bin sehr gespannt, wie es aussieht und schmeckt. Die Füllung war sehr flüssig. Die Rolle liegt grad zum Auskühlen im Kühlschrank.

    1. Hallo! Ich glaube ich habe das damals das Magermilchpulver der Firma Sucofin benutzt, das gibt es bei uns im Edeka und auch im Netto glaub ich, wenn du im Regal mit dem Kaffeeweißer etc schaust. Ich hoffe du wirst fündig.
