Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 8 slices of bread or toast bread, alternatively 4 bread rolls
- 500 grams brown mushrooms
- 150 grams creme fraiche
- 100 grams yogurt
- 4 small to medium sized onions
- 1 Romaine salad head
- 1 – 2 cloves garlic
- Soy sauce & barbecue sauce
- Salt & pepper
- Oil & Butter for frying
- Parsley for garnish
Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:
- Large skillet or wok for the mushrooms
- Pan for the bread, alternatively toaster or panini grill
- Bowl for sauce
- Garlic press
…for Onion & Mushroom Sandwiches:
For the garlic sauce, put 150 grams of crème fraîche, 100 grams of yoghurt, 1 – 2 pressed garlic cloves and some salt and pepper in a bowl and stir together, then set aside until serving.
Clean and slice the mushrooms. Peel onions & cut into strips. Cut romaine lettuce into thin strips. Roast bread or toast in a pan or toaster & set aside. Finely chop the parsley for the garnish.
Next, heat a large pan or wok with a dash of oil and a knob of butter, add the onions & mushrooms & sauté over medium to high heat, turning occasionally, for 6 – 7 minutes. Finally, season with some barbecue sauce & soy sauce & remove from the stove.
Spread the bread slices with garlic sauce, then top with lettuce and mushroom onion mix, garnish with chopped parsley & serve. Have fun cooking & Bon appetit!
