The last pasta bake recipe in this blog was more than half a year ago. In January I showed you a pointed cabbage casserole with curry and bacon. That’s why it’s time again for a really delicious pasta casserole dish, today I’ll show you a vegetarian version with green beans and tomatoes.
The locally grown green beans are currently available very cheaply in supermarkets and go really well with this pasta bake. If you need an alternative, you can also use broccoli and replace it 1 to 1 for this recipe. Have fun cooking!

…for pasta bake with green beans & tomatoes:
Preheat the oven in good time to 200°C (fan oven). Wash green beans, cut off the ends and halve them. Quarter or halve tomatoes depending on size. Bring a large pot with plenty of salted water to the boil and cook the pasta in it for 8 – 9 minutes or according to the package instructions until al dente, also cooking the beans for the last 2 minutes of the cooking time.
Then drain the pasta and beans in a sieve, let them drain briefly and then place them in a suitable casserole dish together with the tomatoes. For the sauce, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a small saucepan. As soon as the butter starts to foam, add a tablespoon of flour, then stir the flour and butter with a whisk until smooth and bring to the boil or foam briefly.
Next, pour in 500 milliliters of cold milk, stir briefly and season everything with 1 teaspoon each of garlic powder, onion powder and savory. Bring the sauce to the boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, season generously with salt and pepper, then remove from the heat and pour into the casserole dish as well.
Finally, sprinkle about 100 grams of grated cheese over the pasta & veggies and put it in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until the cheese has taken on a golden brown color. Take the finished pasta bake out of the oven, spread it on plates and serve. Have fun cooking! Bon appetit!
