Meat strips is a main dish in which the meat is cut into strips and fried briefly. The most well-known dish is probably the “Zürcher Geschnetzeltes” or Meat Strips “Zurich Style”, a briefly roasted veal ragout in a creamy mushroom sauce.

In today’s post I’ll show you a quick and easy way to make a delicious sliced ​​meat with a creamy sauce & a lot of veggies like kohlrabi, carrots & peas. It’s super fast to cook and on the table within 20 minutes. Have fun cooking!

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 grams pork loin
  • 300 grams creme fraiche
  • 200 grams frozen peas
  • 100 milliliters water
  • 1 large kohlrabi (about 500 grams)
  • 4 large carrots
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt & pepper
  • Lemon juice for tasting

  • Large pan with lid for frying

First cut the pork loin into finger-thick slices and then into strips. Peel carrots & cut into sticks or slices. Peel the kohlrabi and cut into sticks or cubes. Take the peas out of the fridge and prepare them to thaw.

Next, heat up a large pan with a good dash of oil, add the meat to the hot pan & sear over medium to high heat for 3 – 4 minutes, season with salt & pepper to taste while turning occasionally. Lift the meat out of the pan and set aside.




Then put the carrot & kohlrabi sticks in the pan, season them with a good pinch of salt and pour in about 100 milliliters of water. Cook the vegetables with the lid closed over medium heat for about 7 – 8 minutes until the desired doneness.

Once the vegetables have reached your desired doneness, return the meat to the pan, also add the defrosted peas, 300 grams crème fraîche & ½ teaspoon nutmeg. Mix everything together well, bring to the boil & simmer briefly again until everything has reached a creamy consistency.

Finally, season the meat strips with veggies with a dash of lemon juice to taste & then place on deep plates & serve. Have fun cooking!
